Day 1:  Arusha or Moshi – Tarangire National Park

After being picked up at your departure point (Moshi or Arusha) we will drive through the Masai Steppe via Makuyuni Junction en route to Tarangire National Park, the fifth largest park in Tanzania. The park is dotted with large baobab trees, spectacular herds of elephants, unique bird species and rare breeds like the oryx and hirolas. Late afternoon we drive out of the park and check in at the amazing Sangaiwe Tented Camp with great views over the plains with Lake Burunge in the far horizon, or you have the option of heading to the village of Karatu where you will check into a lodge, camp or tent for dinner and overnight.

Day 2:  Tarangire - Ngorongoro Crater

Following an early morning breakfast, we head out to the Ngorongoro Crater, also known as the 8th wonder of the world. After registering at the Loduare Main Gate, we descend into the crater for a game drive and picnic lunch. The crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and a known natural sanctuary for some of Africa’s densest animal populations. This is also one of the few places in the world where the rare black rhino can be observed in their natural habitat. As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft. high walls, you can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, and a variety of species of birds.  With a bit of luck the ”Big Five” can all be spotted during one game drive.

Day 3:  Ngorongoro - Lake Manyara National Park – Moshi or Arusha

On Day 3, you have the option of an early morning breakfast at the lodge or we can take a packed breakfast and lunch and descend into the floor of the Great Rift Valley where we will visit Lake Manyara National Park. The name ‘Manyara’ is a Maa word (Masai Language) for the acacia tortillis tree species which the nomadic Masai people use to make hedges to protect their homesteads and livestock. The park is known for its tree-climbing lions which are often spotted taking afternoon siesta on the branches. It is also very common to have sightings of impalas, giraffes, buffaloes, impalas and dik diks. As you enter the park you will notice a lush forest fed by underground water streams which creates a perfect habitat for blue monkeys, baboons, bush bucks and huge elephants sheltering in the sheds from the afternoon sun and devouring the green branches, twigs and herbs. At Lake Manyara itself, you will get the chance to observe hippos and aquatic birds including colorful flamingoes, pelicans, Egyptian geese, cormorants, and many more. We will continue with game drives through mid-day at which time we drive to Moshi or Arusha where you will be dropped at your hotel. Alternatively, we can deliver you to the Kilimanjaro International Airport at a nominal fee. No dinner is provided.
