Day 1: Moshi – Tarangire National Park
We depart from Moshi and start out scenic drive to Tarangire National Park. If requested, we are more than happy to make a stop at a supermarket for any last-minute shopping. We will pass through the very scenic Masai Steppe before arriving at Tarangire, approximately two hours later. After your driver completes processing the necessary paperwork at the park’s gate, we will embark on our first game drive and enjoy the large herds of elephants and majestic baobab trees that dot the grassland. We will stop for a picnic lunch at a designed park site and continue on with game drives until sunset when we check into Sangaiwe Tented Lodge for an enjoyable dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Tarangire National Park - Serengeti National Park
Following an early breakfast, we depart and head across the Great Rift Valley’s floor, up the escarpment and into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This is very enjoyable scenic drive as you experience the breathtaking views en route to Serengeti National Park. Upon arrival at the Naabi Hill Gate in Serengeti you will have a chance to stretch your legs and enjoy a picnic lunch. Our afternoon will be spent doing a game drive after which we will check into Serengeti Heritage Camp for dinner and a campfire before you head off to bed.
Day 3: Serengeti National Park
At dawn, you have the option of a sunrise game drive to try and see the rare nocturnal species and the early risers among the diurnal ones. It is a nice time to see animals in close proximity as most game like to line up at the road sides to escape the morning dew. After breakfast at our camp, we will then spend the day doing game drives in Serengeti National Park. The name Serengeti comes from a Maasai word ‘Siringit’ meaning plains without end. True to the name you will explore vast stretches of African Savannah in search of the many animals Serengeti has to offer. Apart from the wildebeests you can expect to spot elephants, lions, cheetahs, elusive leopards, zebras, elands and a lot of resident and migratory birds. We will overnight again at Serengeti Heritage Camp.
Day 4: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Crater
Following breakfast, we head out for our last game drive in the Serengeti. We will explore the Seronera River Valley which is rich in wildlife and bird life as well as a few special spots recommended by your guide, who is in constant contact with other guides through high frequency radios. Late afternoon we drive back to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and check in at a lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. You have the option of staying at the Rhino Lodge in the conservation area or a a spot at nearby Karatu.
Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater – Moshi
We start the day by descending into the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater. While we can have breakfast at our camp/lodge, it is best to bring a packed breakfast with us since the earlier we arrive in the crater, the better our chances to see black rhinos and other rare animals. With its 600 to 650-meter-high walls, the crater is like a natural zoo with the highest concentration of wild animals and it is not uncommon to spot all of the “Big Five” in one day. After a picnic lunch (usually at the hippo poolside designated picnic site) we drive up the crater rim and out of the conservation area, arriving back in Moshi late afternoon. Dinner is not included on this final day.
